Elected officials sought and drafted special legislation allowing them to use money from HOTEL MOTEL TAX FUND, which is only supposed to be used for tourism, to build a multi million dollar sports complex at UTPB. Why doesn’t UTPB pay for their own sports complex? The money is to be paid back to the hotel motel tax fund from the GENERAL TAX FUND. This backdoor approach is used to avoid seeking voter approval before spending your money. I see many tax increases in our future if David Turner and Dewy Bryant are re-elected.
