More than four months after Joven, Swanner and Matta won seats on Odessa’s City Council there are still some of the establishment sore over their wins. A story reported by the Odessa American states that the 3 candidates may have violated the law by not reporting T-Shirts and door hangers purchased by the Ector County Republican Party in support of these candidates.
Well they may not have violated the law as well. This is BS and our council members should not let this distract them from the jobs they were elected to do. Some would like us to talk about $20,800 dollars worth of t-shirts and door hangers. If everyone is talking about this maybe they wont ask where the sixty million dollars ($60,000,000) worth of Pioneer Resources Revenue is that was supposed to fix our aging water plant. It might also keep people from asking where the gain is from the ninety three million dollars ($93,000,000) worth of debt the last council put on the backs of it’s taxpayers is. I don’t care about those t-shirts or door hangers. I care about our newly elected council holding the line and doing the job they promised and were elected to do. So far as I can tell that is exactly what they are doing.
